Caroline Simmons joined McMahan Winstead & Richardson in 2012. Caroline’s first involvement in politics was in 2008 on Senator Doug Overbey’s successful state senate campaign. After witnessing the excitement and importance of the political process at the state level, Caroline took a keen interest in making it a career. Since joining the firm, Caroline has held an integral role in passing legislation for a variety of McMahan Winstead & Richardson clients ranging from medical providers to distillers, and from judges to clay shooting enthusiasts.

Caroline grew up in Knoxville, TN and is a 2009 graduate of The University of the South, Sewanee, with a B.A. in Political Science. While at Sewanee, Caroline was a member of the Order of Gownsmen Honor Society and spent a semester abroad in Sewanee’s European Studies Program. She was active in the Big People for Little People program and she continues to volunteer today with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and the Empty Stocking Fund in Knoxville.

Caroline is a licensed attorney, earning her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in May 2012. While in law school, Caroline served as a student attorney working in the College’s Wills and Estates Clinic, serving low-income clients with estate planning needs.

Caroline and her husband Lee live in East Nashville with their son Lewis, and their dog, Mark.
